Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock Announces Over $2 Million in Aviation Funding to Augusta Regional Airport, Stresses Importance of Safe Travel During Pandemic

The U.S. Department of Transportation grants provide critical federal funding for Augusta Regional Airport at Bush Field
Senator Warnock: “I am proud to see these federal funds invested in Augusta, which will help our travel industry safely return to normal and, in turn, help stimulate Georgia’s state and local economies”

Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock announced over $2 million in funding to Augusta Regional Airport at Bush Field provided by grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The first award, funded through the Coronavirus Relief and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, provides economic relief for costs related to operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, debt service payments, and combating the spread of pathogens at the airport. The second grant, secured through the Coronavirus Relief and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act Concessions, provides economic relief for rent and minimum annual guarantees, on-airport car rental, on-airport parking, and in-terminal concessions located at primary airports.

“As Georgians begin to resume air travel, I want to ensure travel remains safe and efficient while we continue recovering from this pandemic.” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “I am proud to see these federal funds invested in Augusta, which will help our travel industry safely return to normal and, in turn, help stimulate Georgia’s state and local economies.”

The two grants will be allocated as follows:

CRRSA Act Funds: Augusta Regional at Bush Field: $ 2,610,848

CRRSA Act ConcessionsAugusta Regional at Bush Field: $ 70,783

Total Awards for Augusta Regional: $ 2,681,631
