This week, insulin drug manufacturer Sanofi announced it was capping the cost of insulin at $35 a months for all uninsured U.S. patients, a nod to Senator Reverend Warnock’s Affordable Insulin Now Act which caps the cost of insulin at $35 a month

In February, Senator Reverend Warnock introduced the Affordable Insulin Now Act, starting a months-long push to get the legislation over the finish line, including garnering high-profile endorsements, gaining support from the majority of the Senate Democratic caucus, and successfully muscling his legislation to pass the House

In June, Sens. Shaheen (D-NH) and Collins (R-ME) announced a bipartisan legislative proposal that would address high insulin list prices and lower out-of-pocket costs for insulin which includes Senator Warnock’s bill to cap insulin costs at $35 per month

Senator Schumer expects to put the legislation, which includes the Senator’s $35 insulin cap provision, on the Senate floor this month

Washington, D.C. — This week, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) released the following statement in response to insulin manufacturer Sanofi announcing they will cap the cost of insulin to $35 a month for all uninsured U.S. patients. This announcement follows the Senator’s legislation and months long campaign to pass his Affordable Insulin Now Act, capping the cost of insulin to $35 a month. 

“People shouldn’t have to choose between paying for the insulin they need to live, or their groceries,” said Senator Reverend Warnock.“That’s why I’ve been pushing to cap the cost of insulin at $35 a month for all Georgians and Americans. I applaud Sanofi’s announcement this week for putting people over profits. I call on the Senate to pass my insulin cost cap when we return from recess. Getting insulin legislation over the finish line is one of my top priorities.”
