Solvay Specialty Polymers’ Board formally approved a new Augusta-based facility to manufacture electric battery-grade binders and separator coatings

Today’s announcement is made possible by a $178,218,568 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grant Senator Reverend Warnock helped secure last month

In July, Senator Reverend Warnock encouraged Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm to support funding for the facility in Augusta, Georgia to boost the domestic electric vehicle battery supply chain

Additionally, Senator Reverend Warnock championed the Bipartisan Infrastructure law and helped secure billions of dollars in the law to bolster Georgia’s infrastructure and local economies

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) applauded Solvay Specialty Polymers Board’s decision to formally sign off on an Augusta-based faculty to manufacture electric battery-grade binders and separator coatings, a crucial component for lithium-ion batteries used for electric vehicles. This announcement is made possible thanks to Senator Warnock, who helped secure a $178 million Bipartisan Infrastructure law grant for Solvay. The facility could bring as many as 500 construction jobs and 100 manufacturing jobs to Richmond County. In July, Senator Warnock encouraged Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm to support the funding for this manufacturing facility.

Senator Warnock has championed clean energy infrastructure investments.
