Washington D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) celebrated the Lunar New Year, which begins on January 22, and offered a message of hope and joy to Georgians in a new video message.

Senator Reverend Warnock has advocated vocally in the Senate to #StopAsianHate, delivering a speech on the floor of the United States Senate remembering the lives of the eight victims killed in the 2021 shootings in metro Atlanta, and co-sponsored the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act which was signed into law in 2021.

The video can be viewed here, and a transcript of the message can be read below:

“Well, hello and happy Lunar New Year to all those who are celebrating.

“This is a time for families to come together across Georgia and celebrate history and tradition while looking towards the future.

“It is also an opportunity to honor the sacrifices made by those who came before us and the contributions that our Asian American friends and neighbors make every single day.

“As parents, as students, as teachers, as frontline workers, as citizens.

“I’m so thankful that you are part of our state. You make our community stronger. And I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder alongside you in the fight against hate and discrimination to make sure that everyone has a fair shot at the American Dream.

“It is the covenant we have with one another: E Pluribus Unum, out of many one.

“I wish everyone a joyful Lunar New Year and a year filled with health, prosperity and happiness.

“Thanks so much. Keep the faith.”
