Senators Reverend Warnock, Ossoff Secure Over $500,000 to Assist Homeless Veterans in Atlanta Area

Funding will provide rental assistance for homeless veterans, as well as case management and clinical services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs

The Housing Authority of Atlanta will receive $314,034, and the Housing Authority of East Point will receive $258,867

Federal funding made possible by annual government funding legislation, championed by both senators for its investments in Georgia

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Jon Ossoff (D-GA) secured $572,901 to support services for homeless veterans in the Atlanta area. The Housing Authority of Atlanta will receive $314,034 and the Housing Authority of East Point will receive $258,867 to provide rental assistance for homeless veterans, as well as case management and clinical services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs. 

“Veterans who have put their lives on the line for our nation’s freedoms should never have to worry about if they’ll have a safe place to sleep,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “As the son of a veteran and one of twelve kids growing up in public housing, I understand the dignity and security housing provides, which is why I will continue working with Senator Ossoff and my colleagues across the aisle to secure further investments that combat the housing crisis across Georgia.”

The federal funding will support the HUD Housing & Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program, and was made possible by annual government funding legislation, championed by both senators for its investments in Georgia. As a son of a veteran and one of twelve kids growing up in public housing, Senator Reverend Warnock understands the dignity and security housing provides. And as a member of the Senate Banking committee handling federal housing policy, Senator Reverend Warnock will be a key voice amid a new era in Washington to protect federal housing priorities.
