Senators Reverend Warnock, Fischer Push to Make Precision Agriculture Tech More Accessible to Farmers

The Senators introduced the bipartisan Precision Agriculture Loan (PAL) Act, which helps make sure more farmers can access the cutting-edge technology

Previously, Senator Warnock joined producers at the University of Georgia’s Iron Horse Farm to discuss the benefits of precision agriculture technology for farmers’ bottom-line

Senator Reverend Warnock: “Supporting our nation’s farmers shouldn’t be a partisan issue, and I’m proud to work alongside Senator Deb Fischer to get this done”

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Deb Fischer (R-NE), members of the Senate Agriculture Committee, reintroduced the bipartisan Precision Agriculture Loan (PAL) Act whichwill help America’s producers harness the full potential of precision agriculture. Precision agriculture helps farmers make smart decisions about their resources and crops, helping reduce waste of water, feed, and fertilizer.

“Farmers in Georgia are the backbone of our state’s economy, and despite working in an ever-changing industry for thin margins, year after year, they continue to provide food to feed our families. We need to do all we can to make their jobs easier, which is why the PAL Act is so important. It would offer low-cost and long-term loans to farmers who want to adopt precision agriculture technologies but cannot afford to do so through traditional financing. Supporting our nation’s farmers shouldn’t be a partisan issue, and I’m proud to work alongside Senator Deb Fischer to get this done, said Senator Warnock.

“Precision agriculture equipment enables America’s farmers and ranchers to be stronger stewards of the land; however, high upfront costs and a lack of rural broadband connectivity create frustrating barriers to entry. My bipartisan Precision Ag Package would improve producers’ access to these exciting, innovative tools making their operations more productive, efficient, and less resource-intensive,” said Senator Fischer.

The Precision Agriculture Loan (PAL) Act would create a program within USDA to provide loan financing to farmers and ranchers interested in purchasing precision agriculture equipment.

As a veteran member of the Senate committee overseeing federal agriculture policies, and as a senator representing a state with a proud and prosperous history of agriculture excellence, Senator Warnock is strong in supporting programs that help Georgia farmers keep more profits in their pockets and keep the industry at the frontlines of Georgia’s success. Earlier this year, Senator Warnock led the reintroduction of another bipartisan bill with Leader John Thune (R-SD). The Senators introduced the Promoting Precision Agriculture Act, which would facilitate further adoption of precision agriculture technologies for farmers and ranchers.
