Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) released the following statement on President Trump’s nomination for CDC Director:
“I voted ‘NO’ on Dr. Monarez’s nomination to lead the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. I’ll always put my constituents and the interest of Georgians first, and it is clear that this administration is committed to harming our public health, sidelining dedicated public servants in Georgia, and backtracking on decades of research to treat and prevent chronic disease and deadly illnesses.”
“If confirmed, Dr. Monarez must be a check against this Administration’s most dangerous impulses, there is too much at stake. I stand ready to work with her to protect the CDC’s mission and the lifesaving work the CDC does each day to keep our communities safe, but I cannot in good faith endorse this administration’s reckless actions with a vote for Dr. Monarez’s nomination.” said Senator Reverend Warnock.
