Warnock Statement on Government Funding for ICE

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) released the following statement on his vote against government funding legislation that failed to rein in the abuses of President Trump’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following the deaths of two American citizens:

This week, I stood at the sites where Alex Pretti and Renee Good were killed. Amidst the frigid cold temperatures, I was inspired by the people of Minneapolis’ determination to speak out against the atrocities happening in their community. Like Dr. King, they understood that we are tied in a single garment of destiny. If the people of Minnesota aren’t safe from an unaccountable military force, none of us are safe—including the people of Georgia. That’s why I voted “NO” on legislation to fund DHS until we can have some real accountability for immigration enforcement in Georgia, and across the country.”
