Senator Reverend Warnock refuses to support a government funding bill that does not prevent health insurance premiums from spiking for 1.2 million Georgians
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) released a statement following new reporting from George Washington University finding that Georgia will lose 33,600 jobs in the next year if Congress does not extend health care premium tax credits for Georgians who get their insurance on the Affordable Care Act marketplace, also known as Georgia Access. KFF found that, on average, Americans who rely on the marketplace for their health care will see their premiums double next year.
“Funding health care is not just the right thing to do, it’s the smart thing to do. Georgia stands to lose 33,600 jobs in the next 12 months alone if Congress does not get back to work to extend these tax credits. Let’s set partisan politics aside and prevent premiums from soaring for 1.2 million Georgians. ”
