Today, Senator Warnock voted “Yes” on the Shutdown Fairness Act, legislation to pay essential federal workers, including TSA Agents, federal law enforcement, and the military
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) released the following statement on his “Yes” vote for the Shutdown Fairness Act. The legislation provides permanent funding to federal agencies to pay the salaries and benefits of employees and contractors who are required to work during a government shutdown.
“Essential workers shouldn’t be punished because Washington Republicans chose to shut down the government. This vote reflects my commitment to the people who work hard every day to keep us safe and keep our country moving. It’s critical these hardworking public servants get the pay they are owed but let us be clear: Washington Republicans have created a false choice between reopening the government and preventing premiums from doubling on average for 1.2 million Georgians. It’s not complicated, Congress can and must reopen the government, get paychecks out to all federal workers, and fund health care.”
Senator Warnock has voted seven times on legislation to reopen the government and extend premium tax credits that would keep premiums from doubling on average for 1.2 million Georgians.
