Washington, D.C. – Today U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) shared a new video message wishing all Georgia students a happy first week back to school. The Senator used his video message to urge students to find their passions and pursue it with purpose as well as get ready for any challenges or opportunities the new year will bring them.
“When I think of all the challenges facing our country, and there are many, I know that many of our solutions lie with young people sitting in schools all across Georgia, pursuing with purpose what makes them come alive. Go and do that. So, Georgia students, we need you more than ever. So, get up, get dressed, put your shoes on, and get ready for everything this school year will bring,” said Senator Reverend Warnock.
The Senator has continuously fought for all students to have access to education across Georgia. Earlier this year, he reintroduced the Advancing Student Services in Schools Today (ASSIST) Act that would increase federal Medicaid funding for school-based mental health services and establish a grant program at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to hire and retain mental health professionals in schools, helping increase mental health services, resources, and accessibility. Additionally, the Senator championed the Clean Commute for Kids Act to transition old yellow diesel school buses to greener, emission-reducing ones so that millions of Georgia students and students across the country will have cleaner air to breathe on their way to school.
